Q.6

28 % of ‘m’ is 1680

Quantity A                            Quantity B

(m+6)/6                                         m/6

 A.  Quantity A is greater

 B.  Quantity B is greater

 C.  Quantity A and Quantity B are equal

 D.  The relationship cannot be determined

 Solution ;

28 % of m = 1680

(28/100) x m = 1680

m = (1680 x 100)/28

m = 6000

First we will solve for Quantity A

(m+6)/6 =(6000+6)/6 = 6006/6 = 1001

Quantity B

m/6 = 6000/6 = 1000

From the above solution obviously Quantity A is greater than Quantity B.

 The answer is  ‘A’.

 Q.7

The profit of a company was $5600 in 2014 and $6500 in 2015, what is the change in percent in the profit of a company in year 2015.

A. 15 %

B.  16.9 %

C.  15.08 %

D.  16.07 %

E.  19 %

Solution ;

As there is increase in the profit in the year 2015 compared to year 2014

  PER2-1

= 16.07%

The correct answer is ‘D’.

Q.8

If   ‘a’ is 50 % of ‘b’.    a, b are integers and ≠ 0.

Quantity A                                 Quantity B

    a+ b                                            -3a2

A.   Quantity A is greater

B.   Quantity B is greater

C.   Quantity A and Quantity B are equal

D.  The relationship cannot be determined

Solution;

a = 50% of b

Condition 1; Suppose b = 10   , a = 5

a + b = 5+10 = 15

-3a2 = -3 x 5×5 = -75

Quantity A is greater.

  Condition 2;   b = -10,   a = – 5

a + b = -5 – 10 = -15

-3a2 =- 3 x 5x-5 = -75

Quantity A is greater

Condition 3;   If b = 4 , a = 2 ,

a + b = 2+4 = 6

-3a2 = -3 x 2 x 2 = -12

Quantity A is greater

In all the conditions Quantity A is greater.

The correct answer is ‘A’.

Q.9

Albert opened a savings account on 1st March 2012 in Max Bank for his salary worth of $ 4500 per month. Every month he saved 12% of his salary in the bank. After one year he closed his salary account and put all his savings in fixed deposit with 7% simple annual interest, which of the following is true?

I.  After one year his savings would be $ 6480.

II. At the end of March 2014, Albert got $550 as interest

III. Total Amount at the end of March 2014 would be $6933.6.

A.  Only statement I is correct

B.   Only II statement is correct

C.   Only III statement is correct

D.   Statements  I, II  are correct

E.   Statements I and III are correct.

Answer;

Albert saved 12% of his salary that means;

(12/100) x 4500 = $540 he saved every month.

After one year he saved 12 x $ 540 = 6480, which is the principal amount for next year

In one year Simple interest ‘I’ = PRT

= 6480 x (7/100) x 1

= $ 453.6

Total amount after one year(31st March 2014) in Albert’s account = $ 6480 + $ 453.6 = $ 6933.6

Statement I is correct as his savings were $ 6480 after one year but Statement II is incorrect as the interest was $ 453.6 after one year not $ 550  and the principal amount after one year is $6933.6.

The answer is E.

Q.10

In a community hall 1500 people includes men women and children. Out of which men are 36% of the women and women are 65% of total people present in the community hall. How many children are present in the community hall?

A. 124

B.  135

C.  186

D.  174

E.  122

Answer;

Women are 65% of total people = (65/100) x 1500

= 975

Total People = Men + Women + Children

1500 = Men + Children + 975

Men + Children = 1500 – 975

= 525

Men are 36% of women i.e. 36/100 x 975

= 351

Men + Children =525

351 + Children = 525

Children = 525 – 351

= 174

The answer is ‘D’.

Q.11                              www.limaglobal.com

In a Rock Music Concert, at 8 O’ Clock there were 500 spectators of which 18% were children. After two hours there were 700 spectators of which 12% were children. Find the number of children from 8 O’clock to 10 O’clock at the Concert?

A.  Neither increased nor decreased

B.  Increased by more than 8%

C.  Decreased by less than 8%

D.  Increased by 10 %

E.  Decreased by 10%

Solution:

First we will find 18% of 500 = (18/100) x 500

= 90

At 8 O’clock there were 90 children.

Now find out 125% of 700 = (12/100) x 700

= 84

Here there is a decrease in numbers of children from 8 O’clock to 10 O’clock.

Change in % from 8 O’clock to 10 O’clock

per8

= @ 6.66%

6.66% is a decrease of less than 8%.

The answer is ‘C’.
