Circle Review
Circle is a geometrical shape with a set of points like p1, p2, p3……………….pn at equal distance from a fixed point ‘O’ in a plane. O is the center of circle.
Fundamentals of Circle
- OP – Line segment from center to its periphery is Radius of Circle
- AB – Line segment joining two endpoints on circle is a Chord of Circle
- TP – Line segment passing through center and joining two endpoints on circle is Diameter
- Any chord passing through center is = Diameter
- Diameter = 2 times of radius , if radius is ‘r’ then diameter ‘D’ = 2xr
- Chord ≠ Diameter, if not passing through center
- PQR is arc of circle
- “a°” is central angle of circle
- The ratio of length of an arc to the circumference is equal to the angle of sector ‘a’
- The region bounded by two radii OP ,OR and arc PQR is a sector of a circle
